Quick answers to the most common questions we get about choosing and using AI tools.
Choosing a Tool
Which AI assistant should I start with?
For most people, start with ChatGPT or Claude. Both have strong free tiers, so you can try them before paying. If you do most of your work in Google’s ecosystem, also try Gemini. See our ChatGPT vs Gemini comparison for details.
Free or paid — which is worth it?
Start free. The free tiers are good enough to learn the tool and figure out whether it fits your workflow. Upgrade only when you hit a specific limit (context window, usage cap, or a feature you actually need) that a paid tier fixes.
How much do AI tools cost?
Most premium AI assistants cost around $20 per month. Specialized tools vary widely, from free to hundreds of dollars per month for enterprise plans. Every guide on this site lists current pricing, and we link to the vendor’s pricing page so you can verify.
About Our Guides
Do you get paid for recommendations?
We use some affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. This never changes our recommendations. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
How do I know the stats are real?
Every statistic on our Statistics pages is attributed to a named source with a year. We verify figures before publishing and do not invent data. See our Editorial Policy.
A tool changed its pricing. Is your guide outdated?
AI tools change fast, and we update guides when pricing or features change materially. If you spot something outdated, email [email protected] and we will verify and correct it.
